Day by Day

You will enjoy a relaxed early morning pick up from your hotel in Diani Beach or South Coast, then drive south along the coast to Shimoni, located south of Mombasa’s urban centers.

On arrival, board a traditional Arab dhow, now motorized for comfort and flexibility, and sail across an enchanting seascape of small islands and coral reefs towards Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park.

At Kisite, jump into the crystal clear waters for snorkeling and swimming, exploring vibrant coral gardens and tropical fish. With luck, you may encounter dolphins swimming nearby, creating unforgettable moments in the Indian Ocean.

Time feels suspended as you float in an exotic marine world filled with color and life.

Later, sail back towards Wasini Island for a delicious locally caught seafood lunch at a seaside restaurant. Your meal is prepared in traditional Swahili style, with non seafood options available on request.

After lunch, visit the Wasini coral garden boardwalk, managed by the Wasini Women Group. The elevated walkway runs above coral formations and mangroves and offers spectacular views of the tidal changes. During high tide, the area is completely covered by ocean waters, creating a magical scene.

Before leaving Shimoni, you may optionally visit the historic Shimoni Slave Caves, once used by slave traders as holding chambers before shipment overseas.

Finally, return to the jetty where your vehicle awaits and drive back to your hotel in the late afternoon.
