Day by Day
Day 1 Nairobi to Samburu Game Reserve
Depart Nairobi in the morning, crossing the Equator and driving through changing terrain to the rugged semi-desert northern Kenya.
Arrive at Samburu National Reserve in time for lunch at the lodge.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of Samburu’s iconic wildlife.
Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge or Samburu Serena Lodge.
Day 2 Full Day in Samburu
Spend a full day exploring Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives.
Spot rare species including Reticulated giraffe, Gravy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, Blue-flanked Somali ostrich, Vulturine guinea fowl, and long-necked gerenuk.
See lions, cheetahs, leopards, and other plains game. Optional visit to a Samburu village for cultural experience.
All meals and overnight at Samburu Serena Lodge, Ashnil Samburu, or similar.
Day 3 Samburu to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, drive via the slopes of Mount Kenya and Thomson Falls to Lake Nakuru.
Arrive in time for lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge, Sarova Lion Hill, or Mbweha Camp.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive around the “Pink Lake,” famous for thousands of flamingos, and spot white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, waterbucks, and other wildlife. A birdwatcher’s paradise.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4 Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara, crossing the Loita Plains, observing Maasai warriors tending their multi-colored herds.
Arrive in Mara in time for lunch at the lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive.
Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or Keekorok Lodge.
Day 5 Full Day in Masai Mara
After breakfast, depart with picnic lunches for a full day game drive.
Search for wildlife including lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, leopards, wildebeests, zebras, Grant’s gazelles, and occasionally rhinos. Visit Hippo Point to see hippos submerging and crocodiles sunbathing.
Optional visit to a Maasai village for cultural experience.
Meals and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or Keekorok Lodge.
Day 6 Masai Mara to Nairobi
Enjoy an early morning game drive before checking out.
Drive back to Nairobi, arriving around 2:00 pm. Transfer to the airport or your hotel for your onward journey.
